A sultan had a camel that he loved more than his life. The sultan had only appointed a few people to take care of the camel. The sultan's love for the camel was so great that he said, "Whoever tells me that this camel is dead, I will behead him."
But the camel was an animal after all... It lived one day, five days, how many years; like every animal, it died. Now who could go and tell the sultan, "Your camel is dead!"?
After a day or two, one of them said, "I will go and tell the sultan," and he went before the sultan and started counting:
"My Sultan! Your precious camel lies down and does not get up, closes its eyes and does not open them, stretches its legs and does not pick up its feet. Moreover, his hooves shine very beautifully as they face the sun."
The sultan, who listened to the man to the end, said, "Then my camel is dead."
The man said: "My sultan, you said that too. I was going to say it, but I was going to give my head."
People may sometimes have to lie. They may be under severe threat and pressure. Nevertheless, the truth is always the most practical and shortcut, the most rational. The important thing is to find the right tone and method. In fact, the people we get the most angry and frustrated with are those who force us to lie.
The worst part of lying is always having to tell the lie. Those who tell lies should not be forgetful and should have an excellent memory.
Half of the unhappiness in the world is caused by hiding the truth and lying. According to Jung, a person who lies first of all loses his confidence and belief in himself....
Again Bernard Show says: "The punishment of a liar is not that he is not believed, but that he is not believed by anyone". And even when he tells the truth, no one will believe him anymore, like the story of the lying shepherd.
Children never lie, which is why we have the most enjoyable and fun conversations with them. They don't lie, they don't apologize for it. They tell it pure and simple... No matter how angry we get, later we like their honesty, sometimes it even makes us smile...
The speed of a lie is also different from the truth. "The lie gallops, the truth walks step by step. But it still arrives on time", say the Norwegians... Marc Twain said it best: "A lie travels all over the world while the truth puts on its shoes".
The most important warning I would add to the beautiful comments and beautiful words of all these sages is; Lying causes an incredible "energy blockage and congestion". There is no health, healing, abundance, prosperity, happiness and peace where there is a lie. It is not worth lying for anything and it is not worth blocking our own lives. Maybe people may get a little angry, the truth may hurt, but it will leave less of a mark on people's lives than the pain and anger when the lie is revealed. We have no right to do this to other people or to ourselves.
Lying is one of the first prohibitions of Allah, the Divine Creator, in all the small and big religions and holy books that have existed since the world was created.
Let me tell you one of my favorite stories I read in Masnavi: A drunkard who went to Prophet Muhammad said:" "I am such a bad person that it is very difficult for me to enter the path. I never go sober, I gamble, I steal, I commit adultery, I lie"... "I want to be a good person, but I can only give up one of these things". "Well then, just stop lying," said Muhammad. Time passed and this man met the Prophet again. "Where are you coming from, all sweaty and bloody?" the Prophet asked. The man froze because he had stopped lying. He could not say that he had stolen the camel of a poor man in a neighboring village. "I'm going to stop stealing..."
