Thousands of movies and books have been in vogue lately, reminding us who we are in this world and that our true nature is to love and be loved. The only thing we all want is to be loved. All fictions and dreams are based on being loved. However, the universe has a balance and you cannot take without giving, you cannot reap without sowing. I don't remember what I read somewhere recently; "Life is like a garden," it said, "He who sows hate reaps hate, he who sows love reaps love."
Anyway.... I am writing to you today from another part of the world. Once again I realized and saw that we are all made of the same flesh and blood, we laugh and cry at the same things, we long for the same love and to be loved.
Engraved on the stone walls of Killmainham Goal Prison, restored by the families of former inmates, are the stories of love; of the tragedy and glad deaths of dozens of young poets, writers and intellectuals who have carried themselves beyond love and affection for humanity and their country... One of them was only in his 20s and was allowed to marry his childhood sweetheart in prison just hours before he was killed. This is what love looks like. In the midst of all this emotion and love, today I am sending you a story from far away, a mother-daughter story, one of the most intense relationships in which love and immanent love is experienced, an anonymous story I read somewhere years ago.
A woman has a very beautiful daughter. Every day she calls her: "My beautiful flower!". The girl is very happy and thinks she is very beautiful. Years pass and the woman always loves her daughter the same: "My beautiful flower!" First her friends make fun of her on the street and say she is very ugly: "Am I ugly, mom?" "No, my daughter," says the woman, "you are the most beautiful flower in the world!" The girl starts school, everyone makes fun of her, everyone runs away, afraid of her: "Mom, am I ugly?" "No," she says. "You are the most beautiful flower in the world." As the years pass, the girl's anger and resentment towards her mother grows. "Are you mocking me, woman? Everyone says I am ugly-faced and hunchbacked, but you say the opposite!" The woman says to her daughter: "Don't worry, my daughter, a pair of eyes has been found for you and soon you will see for yourself how beautiful you are and you will believe me!". The day comes. The operation is a success and the doctor slowly removes the bandage from the girl's eyes. First everything is blurry, then one by one they become clear. The girl asks for a mirror, she is most curious about herself, she doesn't even look at the people around her. The girl she sees in the mirror is very, very beautiful. She looks for her mother in amazement, but she is not there. She tells the doctor in amazement: Everyone has always told her she was ugly, except her mother. In fact, there is a very beautiful girl in the mirror, how did this happen? The doctor answers without hesitation: "Because you look with your mother's eyes that look at you with love!"
